About the Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon is a religious text that is considered scripture by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), also known as Mormons. According to the beliefs of the LDS Church, the Book of Mormon is a second witness of Jesus Christ and provides a record of ancient American civilizations.

The book was first published in 1830 by Joseph Smith, who claimed to have translated it from golden plates that were revealed to him by an angel. The text of the Book of Mormon tells the story of ancient peoples in the Americas and their interactions with God, including the visit of Jesus Christ to the Americas after his crucifixion.

The Book of Mormon is used alongside the Bible as a source of doctrine and scripture by the LDS Church. It is considered by Mormons to be a companion to the Bible and a complement to the teachings found in the Old and New Testaments. The book is widely studied and discussed by Mormons as part of their religious practice and faith.
