29 January 2020   -   Salt Lake City   News Release Church’s Official Twitter Handle Changes to @Ch_JesusChrist  The username of the official Twitter account of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is now  @Ch_JesusChrist . This change better emphasizes the name of Jesus Christ, the Church’s central object of worship. The adjustment also helps Twitter users mention the Church more clearly in tweets and personal profiles. Those who already follow the Church’s official account (previously @ChurchNewsroom) do not need to re-subscribe. The Church’s Twitter feed is the faith’s first social media source for timely news and information. The Church of Jesus Christ also has an official presence on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Church Sending Supplies to China to Assist With Coronavirus President Nelson reaches out to offer help  As concerns regarding the respiratory illness coronavirus continue to rise, Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, inquired of his longtime friends in China as to what might be needed. Through these efforts, the Church learned of a need for protective equipment at the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, where supplies have been depleted because of the outbreak in Wuhan. The book, adapted to the ministerial needs of a global faith, goes live February 19, 2020  On Thursday, General Authorities and General Officers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were introduced to a new handbook for all leaders and members. This more accessible handbook was created under the direction of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Titled  General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , it will replace both Handbook 1 (for stake presidents and bishops) and Handbook 2 (for all other leaders). The new book will be digital only and available to the public. Latter-day Saints wear ceremonial clothing inside temples as part of the most sacred ordinances, or ceremonies, of their faith. The  First Presidency has recently made adjustments  to the clothing to be more simple, comfortable, and cost-effective, as well as to enhance the temple experience for patrons. This change does not alter the sacred nature of covenants made in the temple.
